Anyone read the Kingmaker, Kingbreaker duology?  On the face of it, they're almost painfully typical fantasy, of the sort I thought had died out years ago.  Prophecy, dark lord, chosen one etc.  Luckily, they're also brilliantly readable, mostly because of the likeable characters and dialogue.

I felt that Awakened Mage was let down by the ending, but I'd still recommend anyone give them a go.  I picked up Innocent Mage on whim and I couldn't put it down.
